As you all know, we love books here at my home. We spend a lot of time reading stories. My little one loves to climb in my lap and grab and book.
I have like the Berenstain Bears since I was a kid, and the fact I can now read those books with my little girl makes my heart overjoyed.
This book starts off talking about what a beautiful spring day it is and how it also happens to be Easter. The family are all getting dressed and wondering why they put on different brighter clothes for the occasion. After Mother explains, they set off to Church.
There the organs are playing and many other families are also there. Pastor Brown begins preaching and talking about the real true meaning of Easter. He talks about Jesus being born, his last supper, his death and how he rose again. How we celebrate rebirth on Easter.
After the sermon is over the cubs go outside for a hunt. Instead of Easter eggs, the cubs find giftboxes that include pieces to a scene from Noah's Ark. The children are excited and begin questioning whether the Bible says anything about the Easter bunny, Easter eggs and candy? Pastor Brown explains to them that they had nothing in common but people often celebrate the beginning of Spring at the same time, when the new animals are born. He lets them know it is not bad to celebrate as long as they know that Jesus is the real reason for Easter.
I really enjoyed reading this book to my daughter. The pages were filled with beautiful illustrations and it kept our interest. It wasn't a long book but told just enough. I also liked the fact how Pastor Brown explained Easter and how the Easter bunny didn't have anything to do with the Bible but that people celebrated because of the beginning of Spring. I think that this is how I will explain things to my little one when she is older and this will be a great book to help me do so.
I highly recommend that everyone read this book to their little ones.
