The Day is Waiting is a wonderful Children's book. The author and illustrated of the book Corduroy Don Freeman passed away in 1978. He left behind some great illustrations. By leaving these behind others were able to go in and fill in the blanks. Linda Zuckerman in particular put together words to go with the beautiful, pastel illustrations and The Day is Waiting was formed. This book takes us on a small tour of the world but in the end it is always home we come back to. I love this because day after day no matter how far we aim to go or even how far we may end up off track we can always go home. To a family that loves us and more importantly God. I love that the text is simple and that the illustrations are almost peaceful. With the text being so simple it was easy for my 10 month old to sit still as we read her the book. I also love that this book can grow with her and she can talk about home and what that means to her. She can talk about the different places described in the book and her imagination can soar. This is a great book to read also for a bed time story! It is so great to see that Mr. Freeman's legacy can live on. I recommend this book to parents with young children. We thoroughly enjoyed being able to read this book!
