Harvest Festival With the Berenstain Bears

As a child I can remember reading the Berenstain Bears and I didn't know they had a show on the Sprout Channel until recently and come to find out my grandmother even loves watching it. As Summer is soon coming to an end Autumn is approaching. The beautiful colors and the many great scents and delicious foods or Starbucks flavors will soon be here. As small as Sprout is I still like to tell her about what is happening, or what is going to happen soon and I thought this was a wonderful book to discuss the upcoming season change.


In the beginning Papa Bear and Mama Bear are working in the yard while the cubs are playing. They begin to talk about a Harvest Festival that Farmer Ben is having. They are all very excited and want to go. They all clean up and begin the walk to Farmer Bens. Along the way they are chatting about the leaves and the beautiful fall scenery. Papa Bear reminds the Cubs they should give thanks to God for harvest time and for all of the blessings upon us. This was really important to me and I think it will teach our children to give thanks. 

The family goes about all of the activities at the Harvest Festival and at the end they all sit down to eat. The preacher says the prayer and prays giving thanks for the food and harvest time. I really like that it included this prayer in the book as I say night time prayers and we pray before meals out loud with Sprout.

Mike Berenstain has done an amazing job writing this children's book and I highly recommend it to you all if you are looking for a new book to purchase for your child!
