Growing up with tobacco fields in my back yard and living next door to my grandparents who taught me to love small town living this book really captured my attention and made it very relatable for me. About the book: With the heart and humor of Fannie Flagg’s Fried Green Tomatoes and Rebecca Wells’s Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, author Marci Henna introduces you to the Cranbournes—a mostly lovable and undoubtedly nutty family who’ve had more than their fair share of hard times. A beautiful blend of tears and laughter, When We Last Spoke tells the tale of sisters Juliet and Evangeline, who are dropped off by their Broadway-bound mother at their paternal grandparents’ Texas ranch in 1967. After their cherished father is killed in Vietnam, the girls are orphaned. Still mourning their son’s death, grandparents Walt and Ruby accept their role as guardians, only to be surprised soon after by another permanent houseguest’s arrival—Walt’s kooky mother, Itasca. Fast-forward to the present, where the warmhearted home in which the girls grew up is now just a faint memory. The estranged sisters are in need of a good dose of Walt’s famous stargazing wisdom: “You’ve got to look real close. Pay attention to what’s around you in this life. You’re liable to miss something important if you don’t.” Packed with plenty of quirky characters and hilarious escapades, this must-read novel also digs in deep to the things that matter most—family, friends, love, and forgiveness.
About the Author:
Marci Henna was born in Austin, Texas and lived as a child in Kenya, East Africa with the Wakamba tribe where her parents managed a medical research station. She later moved to the Hill Country ranch which has been in the family since the 1800’s and currently lives in Austin.About the Author:
My thoughts: I really liked how Julie was telling the story. It made me seem more personal to me. This story was charming and made you feel as if you were right there with the girls. I loved reading about their childhood unfold. However, I wish I knew more about why the sisters were estranged in the end. I loved seeing how much devotion and time Ruby and Walt put in to raising their granddaughters. It sure is funny how so many different people leave thumbprints on our hearts and make us into who we are. I would love for you all to read this book so I am giving one away down below!

I am one of those people who can get lost in the music. The one who finds enjoyment in finding out about new artists and Kari Jobe is a new artist to me. Upon receiving this cd, the first thing I noticed was the beautiful cover, it is almost as great as Kari's voice. The lyrics touched my heart and soul significantly and I have been listening to this cd, over and over again. Two of my favorite songs from the album include "Lover of my soul" and "Speak to me". Those songs just spoke to me. The songs included on the album are: 1. The Garden 2. Let Your Glory Fall 3. Heal Our Land 4. Lover of My Soul 5. Speak to Me 6. Fall Afresh 7. I Will Sing 8. Miracles 9. Closer to Your Heart (feat. Cody Carnes) 10. Oh the Power 11. The Cause of Christ 12. Here as in Heaven (feat. Cody Carnes) 13. Come Alive 14. On the Throne About Kari: Grammy nominated Kari Jobe is the premiere female worship leader in Christian music. The Holidays have come and gone and tomorrow we start a new year. Alas, some of us may be feeling the effects of the holidays, sore throat, coughing and a scratching feeling. If you are having this issues, make sure you pop in Pine Bros throat relief, they really go give relief. I received Wild Cherry and their new Vitamin C Orange Flavor. The wild cherry is sugar free, so I was able to share with my father in law who has diabetes. I also really enjoyed the vitamin c orange ones as I believe it is important to get some vitamin c in every day.
Make sure you watch this video below on just how great Pine Bros is!

Right now they are offering four different flavors on their website. Those flavors include: Wild Cherry, Natural Honey, Licorice and Lemon Lime. These have a really great texture, they aren't too hard, too soft or squishy. In fact they remind me of candy, just remember they are not candy. These Pine Bros drops are made in America. I left supporting businesses that are local to us.

As a mother something, of extreme importance is for me to teach my daughter, the stories from the Bible. As a toddler, it is sometimes hard for her to sit still for long but these stories are short in text and offer vivid illustrations. The illustrations draw in her and she loves running her fingers over the pages. I also like that I can use this Bible along side of her toddler curriculum. Some of you all may even remember a similar version of this Bible, as it has been around since 1989. I know that I remember seeing it in hospitals and doctor's offices.
About the Bible The Beginner’s Bible® has been a favorite with young children and their parents since its release in 1989 with over 25 million products sold. Now it’s redesigned with fresh new art that will excite children for many more years to come. Full of faith and fun, The Beginner’s Bible is a wonderful gift for any child. The easy-to-read text and bright, full-color illustrations on every page make it a perfect way to introduce young children to the stories and characters of the Bible. With new vibrant three-dimensional art and compelling text, more than 90 Bible stories come to life. Kids ages 6 and under will enjoy the fun illustrations of Noah helping the elephant onto the ark, Jonah praying inside the fish, and more, as they discover The Beginner's Bible just like millions of children before. About the Book:
When Jesus Was a Green-Eyed Brunette weaves heartwarming and miraculous stories of Jesus showing up in ordinary people, revealing that He knows us and is fully present in our everyday circumstances, especially in our difficulties. Those hurting and weary from worn-out religion are longing for a fresh touch from the living Jesus. Best-selling author Max Davis challenges us to do more than simply receive God’s grace—we need to allow grace to soften, change, and shape us. As you read this book you will laugh, cry, and come face-to- face with the living Jesus, much like Davis did, when he found Him living in a green-eyed brunette. As Davis puts it, “Jesus is very much alive today and still does incredible things—sometimes supernatural things—through us!” About the Author: Max Davis is the author of over 20 published books and has been featured in USA Today and Publishers Weekly and has appeared on The Today Show and The 700 Club. He holds degrees in Journalism and Biblical Studies and is a much sought-after speaker for churches and organizations worldwide. He and his wife, Alana, live on 50 beautiful acres in Greenwell Springs, Louisiana.
My thoughts: This book took me by surprise. I wasn't sure what to expect based off of the title but let me tell you this book is great. It was a reminder to me that we can see Jesus in everyday people. God uses the broken, the ordinary and takes them and does extravagant things. Throughtout the book Davis talks about his experiences at first he meets a girl on the coffee aisle and notices what he thinks are burn marks on her. After talking to her, he finds out they are not but does see that she is full of God's love. So often we are focused on what people look like, what they are wearing that we choose not to see how they are acting and if they are representing Jesus. This book also taught me that sometimes people show up in your life for specific reasons and than we may never hear from them again. When I was going through my divorce, I met many people that helped me get through what I thought were hard times. Eventually, things got better for me and those people and I drifted apart. I also love that Davis used stories from his own personal experiences. This book will be sure to inspire you and to make you think.

An American Classic is back, have you ever read it? This is the special 50 year anniviersary hardcover copy written by Russel Hoban.
Charlie the Beaver wants to be a tramp when he grows up. “Tramps don’t have to learn how to chop down trees and how to roll logs and how to build dams. Tramps just tramp around and have a good time. Tramps carry sticks with little bundles tied to them. They sleep in a field when the weather is nice, and when it rains they sleep in a barn.” Charlie sets off with his bundle. But when he hears water trickling, he can’t get to sleep. Will he be able to resist the urge to make it stop? As Grandfather Beaver says, “You never know when a tramp will turn out to be a beaver.”
This book has been around for many years and while I never read it growing up, I am so glad that I can share it with my daughter. I actually wonder if my grandmother ever read this to her children? I love the old time feel of this book, it takes me back to when life was much simplier and time didn't go so fast. This is a great book that will be wonderful for you to share with your family members. This sweet little book talks about Charlie and while he is growing up he doesn't want to work like a beaver does, he wants to roam around and be free like a tramp. However, eventually he soon comes home again, exchanging jobs for meals. Eventually Charlie is buildis a dam and becomes the beaver he was meant to be. He was growing up. About the Author: Russell Hoban (1925-2011) first became famous for his children’s picture books about a badger named Frances and other animal characters that have a lot in common with children we know – bedtime for Frances, A Baby Sister for Frances, Bread and Jam for Frances, and Emmit Otter’s Jug-band Christmas. I am so excited to offer one of my readers a copy of this great classic book a book which won Boys Club of America Junior book award in 1968. This month has flown by and we are counting down to Christmas. I have one excited little girl here and I love that I have been able to incorporate some amazing books in her daily story time, this one included.
About the book: Written for children ages four to eight, Christmas Love Letters from God cleverly combines both prose and poetry as the story of Jesus’ birth unfolds. The book includes seven stories, beginning with Isaiah’s prophecy and ending with the visit of the wise men. Following each story, the child will find his or her own letter from God, folded into a small envelope attached to the page. Each letter begins with a space in which to write the child’s name, so each one can be specially addressed to the child.
Written as if God is speaking, each personalized message gives the young reader a sense of wonder as they discover anew the Christmas holiday and the birth of Jesus. A very special Bible verse, entitled God’s Perfect Promise, also accompanies each story and letter as God’s personal words of love, promise, and hope.
Since Raelynn, is only 2 this book is a little more than she can grasp at one time. She did however sit still for me to read her one story at a time. She really loved looking at all of the beautiful illustrations. I am not sure who enjoyed this book more out of the two of us. We will read it for years to come.
This would make a great book for any family, to learn more about Jesus.

Christmas is fast approaching. Raelynn is 2 years old now and I like to incorporate as much as I can about the true meaning of Christmas in our daily lessons. Norma Lewis has written a wonderful book, that will become a family favorite. It does have a lot of repetition so that children can learn the book easier.
Don't mind Raelynn in the above picture, I caught her off guard. The illustrations in this book are also very beautiful. I really like that it tells the story of Jesus' birth and it starts with talking about the straw in the barn, where Jesus slept. I think it is great for us to think about those small details the ones we sometimes overlook, and sit back and think about how amazing his birth was. Our Almighty King slept in a manager in a barn. We expect all of these amazing gifts, and our Savior slept beside cows. This is really a great book to teach our Children about the birth. I also liked to ask Raelynn what she saw in the pictures to see what really stood out to her!
