I am not sure about anyone else but I am 27 and I still love Veggie Tales! I was really excited when I got the chance to review the girl's version of Veggie Tales: Everyday With God Devotional. The great thing is that if you don't have little girls they also offer a version for boys.
About the book:
Every Day with God is the latest 365-day devotional (one for boys and another for girls) from VeggieTales. The updated content and art offer the perfect opportunity for parent and child to share time together each day. Each entry includes a Bible verse, short devotion, Thought of the Day, and prayer. The content will help children learn more about God and develop a daily practice to keep Him close in their lives. The book is perfect for bedtime reading, family devotion time, or as a fresh way to start each day! My review: As a mom one of the most important things to me is to teach my daughter about the word of God and to talk to her about our Lord everyday. This devotional is great because it has 365 days of devotions. On each page there is a devotion, a thought for the day and a prayer. The thoughts of the day include encouraging tidbits that you can talk with your child about. At the end of book there is a section where parents can help their children memorize verses. This is great to me and even helps me refresh and relearn them myself. We are still working with Raelynn on her memorization. The devotional is recommended for ages 4-7. Raelynn is only 2 but does really well with sitting still and listening to me as I read the devotion and talk to her about it. I like that she can grow and continue to use this devotional and one day she will be able to read it to me. I highly recommend this devotional, it would be great for your children or even as a gift. The pages are also full of fun illustrations of the veggie tales. I am excited to be able to offer one of my readers their own copy of Veggie Tales: Devotional. One of the first things I heard when I was pregnant was that reading to your baby is very important. Personally, I love to read and the fact that I bond over reading with Raelynn makes it that much better. I try to at least read one book if not more a day to her.
One of the great things about this book is that it is short and rhyming and it also talks about what a baby may do during the day. This is great because now that Raelynn is 2, I can point to the wonderful illustrations and she can tell me what the baby is doing after which I will read it to her. Another thing she loves is that there is a mirror in the book. She will look at herself and giggle. She still refers to herself as baby, so it is really quite fitting. At the end of the book there is a space where you can write your child's name, I don't want to give away any major spoilers but I am going to let you know that your baby and you will be sure to love this book as much as my little girl and I do. Your baby will know that God loves them while reading this story. I am so excited that I get to offer a copy of this book to one of my readers! There is a giveaway down below. Recently I was given the chance to review this dvd and a cd of The Biggest Story and our family thoroughly enjoyed it and I hope yours does as well!
-Information about the dvd- The dvd is the animated short film is ideal for teaching children the core message of the Bible at home, at church or in the classroom. It features 10 chapters, each 2-3 minutes long. This is great especially if your child has a short attention span like mine. It is narrated by the author, Kevin DeYoung. The author Kevin DeYoung is senior pastor of University Reformed Church in East Lansing, MI, husband to Trisha, and father to seven children. Original Music by composer John Poon. Illustrations by award-winning artist Don Clark, Includes a free digital copy of the film. Includes a 2 sided poster featuring artwork adapted from the book. This dvd is filled with beautiful animation that will entrance you and your children. The 10 chapters are short that way your children can learn about the different stories in the Bible while not getting too antsy. It does not give a clear stop and start point between each chapter but they all run smoothly together. However, if needing to use it for something specific I would suggest using the menu for navigation. I love that my daughter can watch these stories and then we can talk about them. The Biggest Story also comes in audio version on a cd. This is great because your children can listen to this while they are playing or on drives in the car. Just like the dvd the cd has 10 chapters that are 2-3 minutes long. Both versions offer you and your children a chance to journey through the Bible. I am personally excited to recommend this combo to you and also I am also happy that one of you will be getting this in your mailbox! “Disclosure (in accordance with the FTC’s 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising”): Many thanks to Propeller Consulting, LLC for providing this prize for the giveaway. I am not sure about you but I love bookstores, especially Christian bookstores. I can find gifts for my family and friends and even find loads of goodies that I love myself. They offer a large selection of books, movies, music, apparel, toys and even home décor inside of their store. Upon receiving my own $25 gift certificate I decided that I would begin my search online.
Family Christian Bookstore is having a huge sale most of their books, movies and even music are buy one get one 50% off! That means major savings for me. Especially since God's not Dead 2 was recently released. If you haven't ever seen the first one, I highly recommend it as it is quite inspiring. I am hoping to bring home God's not Dead 2 soon for my family. Another great things about this is that Christmas will be headed our way soon and if you are like me and want to get a jump on your shopping, or add some extra things to your home, with the sale going on now is the perfect time!
Since I don't have a Family Christian Store in my town, there are some a few towns over, I decided to shop online. I loved shopping online as the navigation was so easy and they even showed you the clearance items.
I am so excited to offer my reader's a chance to win a gift certificate of their own. I love you just because is a great story by Donna Keith about a family of bears. The three smaller bears are a panda bear, brown bear and a polar bear. Mommy and daddy bear are both brown bears. Besides being in the same family the only other similarity is that they are all bears. They are each different and have their own characteristics and personalities, just like you and me. Through out the book different things happen such as Polar bear cannot climb like the other two bears and Panda bear is more of a vegetarian. Throughout this all Mama, Papa and even grandma and grandpa bear remind them that they love them just because. Their differences seem to bring them together. One of my favorite things is that each page has a verse on it that could relate to what is happening. The book also have beautiful illustrations on the pages that were done by Alison Edgson.
If you find that you like this book as much as my little girl and I did, you can check out Donna Keith's two other books, I love you all the same and I love you even when. My little girl adores looking through the pages of this book and hearing me tell the story of this brave bear family. I like it as well because it could be great for adoptive families, or blended families. This sweet story will be sure to become a family favorite. I am so excited to be giving one of my readers a copy of this dear book. “Disclosure (in accordance with the FTC’s 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising”): Many thanks to Propeller Consulting, LLC for providing this prize for the giveaway. The Life We Never Expected is an incredible book written by Andrew and Rachel Morgan was truly inspirational.
"Sometimes life throws you a curve ball." Andrew and Rachel are the parents of two children with special needs. Most of us will never know what that is like and this book gives us a chance to see inside their life and journey with them on the path God put them on. I love that throughout this entire book we can see their Christian faith being displayed. We know they are tired, but they keep persevering on. Being a parent is tough, my daughter is not special needs but she is very high spirited and completely exhausts me sometimes, they have showed me that I need to be thankful to God even on these exhausting days. I am thankful for this book, I am thankful this beautiful couple welcomed us in to see a glimpse of their live. About the Book: What do you do when hard or painful circumstances turn your world upside down, resulting in a life you never expected? Andrew and Rachel Wilson grappled with this question after both of their children were diagnosed with regressive autism. Refreshingly honest, this book explores the highs and lows of raising children with specials needs, reflecting on the broader question of how to cope with suffering of all kinds. Sharing personal stories from their lives and encouragement rooted in the truth of God’s Word, Andrew and Rachel highlight lessons they’ve learned related to fighting for joy and thriving in the midst of trials—ultimately pointing readers to Christ, the One who promises to make all things new. I have done so many things in my life many of them have left me with guilt and shame but really how do you know the difference. In some area's I wasn't able to tell them apart until I read the book Unashamed by Heather Davis Nelson.
About the book: Unashamed: Healing Our Brokenness and Finding Freedom from Shame offers hope to those struggling under the burden of shame. This book shines the life-giving light of the gospel on the things that leave us feeling worthless and rejected, directing our attention to the God who promises to forgive and restore us—no matter what. About the author: Heather Davis Nelson (MA, Westminster Theological Seminary) is a writer, counselor, and speaker. Heather writes regularly at HeatherDavisNelson.com and has been a featured writer at the Gospel Coalition, as well as a contributing author to the Journal of Biblical Counseling. She and her husband are parents to twin daughters and live in southeastern Virginia. My thoughts: This book has taught me that my shame has been held up inside of me for many years. Some of the shame regards my body, some my ex-husband, and plenty of other things. Now, I am working towards riding myself of that shame because I don't need to continue carrying it around forever. It just weights me down and exhausts me. I highly recommend that you read this book! Take your team as Heather offers many amazing points, that are sure to help you out! I am so excited that I get to over one reader a copy of this book! Enter using the link below! ~Many thanks to Propeller Consulting, LLC for providing this prize for the giveaway. The devotions in My Mother’s Quilts are inspired by family heirloom quilts, some more than 100 years old. With humor and sincerity, Ramona Richards shares her memories and lessons learned from the quilters whose legacies live on in their work. Rich, personal, sometimes heartbreaking, often funny, each reading provides a lesson and encouragement from the faithful women who crafted the quilts. Together, these devotions depict the enduring legacy of faith, family, and beloved traditions. Includes full color photographs of each of the 30 quilts! My review: My Mother's Quilts is a magnificent devotional. Although I am not a quilter myself, I was able to savor every little bit of this. My grandmother and my great-grandmother both were quilters. We had one quilt in our family that was special if you say it was the kind of quilt you cuddle in when you weren't feeling well or if you had a bad dream or were scared of something. That quilt somehow cheered us all up. This devotional shows the amount of love and dedication that is put in to a quilt and it truly is amazing. It starts with a Bible verse and it also has a prayer starter. Sometimes, my mind is boggled and I am worn down from day to day life and some of these Bible verse's have really hit home for me. It is also really nice to have that prayer starter. I also really love that the book includes photographs of beautiful quilts. I love that I can actually read a few at a time because they are so great. Since, I also have a toddler running around this book is perfect for me. I hope you will be able to pick up a copy of this book yourself as it would make an amazing gift. About the Book’s Author: Ramona Richards is an award-winning editor, speaker, author of nine books, and a frequent contributor to devotional collections. An avid live music fan, Ramona loves Nashville, which she’s called home since she was ten. Sensing her mother was near the end of her life, Ramona documented her mother’s stories and lessons behind each family quilt. These stories form the devotions in My Mother’s Quilts. Find out more about Ramona and her books by visiting her online at ramonarichards.com. Check out this Contest: Win one of the quilts featured in #MyMothersQuilts by Ramona Richards. Also up for grabs: loads of other prizes including quilting hand warmers, coloring books, and 25 signed copies of Ramona’s book. As a mother to a little girl, I look for books that will teach valuable lessons that we can apply in our everyday lives. The Adventures of Rooney Cruz are Bible story books that are based on different women of the Bible. The series will highlight five superhero women: Hannah, Esther, Abigail, Ruth, and Deborah. So, why did they choose these five women? It's based on Exodus 28:35 ~ The sound of the bell(e)s will be heard (H.E.A.R.D.~ The acronym is the first letter of each women's names).I personally remember hearing about these women in the Bible, when I was growing up and I am so glad that I can share that with my little girl. Esther: The Belle of Patience – by Erin Weidemann is the second in this series. It’s a cute story about a little girl named Rooney who’s struggling with patience. She learns about Esther and the patience she exhibited and how she can apply that to her own life. Patience truly is a virtue and is something that I as an adult still struggle with. I must continue to try and do my best at being patient so that I can exhibit that for my little girl. Since my little one is younger I really liked that the book wasn't too long but that it had beautiful illustrations. It was beautifully written and we enjoyed Rooney and her adventure with her guardian angel Mari. I also really enjoyed how the Biblical values Rooney learned were used in her everyday life and problems. I am so excited that one of my readers will be able to enjoy a copy of this book themselves! Just check out the giveaway below and get entered. Propeller Consulting LLC is generously offering one of our lucky readers their very own copy of Bible Belles~ Esther: The Belle of Patience!
